The police observed the client meet with a well known and high level drug trafficker  for a short amount of time.  They then followed the client and watched him make three short duration meets in downtown Vernon.  The client was arrested and taken to the police detachment where he was strip searched.  The police found a package of dozens of individually wrapped pieces of cocaine and heroin/fentanyl.  Accordingly the client was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking of both substances.  Prior to the trial Mr. van der Walle filed his Notice of Constitutional Argument alleging that the strip search was conducted without sufficient grounds and had been conducted in an unreasonable manner.  A few days before the trial was set to begin the Crown prosecutor informed the defence that they would be dropping both charges by entering a stay of proceedings at the outset of the trial.  Not guilty.  No trial necessary.
